Mr. Morehouse,

I lived in Elsah for a time, and your description is so accurate. The Maple Leaf Cottage Inn is a gem. Visit near January to witness the bald eagles soar, screach overhead, and dive to catch fish from the Mississippi River. I, too, am especially fond of the wooded hiking trails and bluffs at the river's edge. Thank you for this post! It warmed my heart.

Cheers,
Caige

Mr. Ward Moorehouse, how does one adequately thank someone for such kind and thoughtful words? To say "Thank you" does not seem enough. I wish you could feel the joy and appreciation in my heart. I wish you could see the smile on my face. I wish you could see I am standing a bit taller ... I feel supported and loved. You captured beautifully what my intent is for my guests - My desire is to make my guests feel at home, comfortable, relaxed and fill them with southern home-cooked meals. I want to take them away from the hectic and hurried life ... to breathe deeply and enjoy nature. A step back in time, imagine being at Grandma's ... hear the creaks as you walk across the old wooden floors, smell the fresh baked goods from the kitchen, sit in a rocking chair on the front porch or sit among the gardens with a book in hand ... make yourself at home and be pampered. You captured it all with your words and I love it! Ward and Katherine, you are such kind and special people, a lovely couple that Tim and I consider dear friends. If you don't make it to Elsah, we will come to N.Y. We must stay in touch. Much love, Deborah
